6 Days Atlas Mountains & Sahara Desert -Morocco Combined Tour

Atlas and sahara desert combined tours, Mt Toubkal and atlas valley treks followed by couple of days to the sahara desert.

Day 1 – Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate

  • Drive through Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m)

Day 2 – Ouarzazate → Skoura Oasis → Valley of Roses → Dades Gorge

  • Stop at Taourirt Kasbah
  • Discover Skoura palm oasis & Amridil Kasbah

Highlights of the Tour

Itinerary

this morning our private tourist transport will pick you up from your Raid/hotel in Marrakech at 9.00am. And then take you to the starting point of your trek at Imi Oughlad is a small Berber village at elevation of (1,450m) where you will meet your guide and muleteer (about 1,5hrs journey). Once you have loaded up the mules, you will head off on your trek.Your first day will be an easier acclimatisation trek in the Ouirgane National Park. Today is the gentlest day of walking; there are fewer steep inclines and descents so you can really enjoy the Mediterranean-esque scenery. Shepherds tend to their goats amongst the pretty valleys dotted with juniper and oak trees. You will overnight in a Local Family’s home in Tinzert, a small rustic Berber Village. Approx 4 to 5 hrs walk.

After breakfast you’ll head up through the big forest of oak trees, and a panoramic of the Ouirgane valley and villages, its very green valley all year around, also the good view of high atlas Mountains, always up to Tizi N’Takhrkhourt at (2200m), after this pass we skip the Ouirgane valley and then traverse over to the stunning Azzadene Valley and villages, passing traditional Berber mountain villages. The views open up as you walk up through the valley, you’ll see a rushing mountain stream surrounded by lush walnut groves leading up towards the peaks of the High Atlas at the head of the valley. You will overnight in a village Gite in Tizi Oussem. Approx 5hrs walk.

Today involves a fantastic climb out of the Azzadene Valley. You’ll walk up the valley towards the pass at Tizi n Mzik (2479m) which offers dramatic views, before descending down into Imlil. If you’re felling energetic you can take a slight route detour to include the D’Irhoulidene waterfalls, this adds a couple of extra hours walking but is worth the effort. On arrival in Azib Brdoun at (1850) where you will having your picnic lunch, and then you’ll continue to Ait souka village for an overnight in mountain Berber lodge at elevation of (1980m) on feet of the Toubkal Pick. Approx 5hrs walk.

Pick up you from Imlil around 8am towards Ouarzazate, through the Tizi- N-Tichka pass (2260m) in the High Atlas Mountains. You will enjoy beautiful landscapes with different colors’ and the Berber villages along the way between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, the doorway to the Sahara desert. You will visit the UNESCO world heritage site Ait Benhaddou. Kasbah is one of many locations served as a natural decoration for many movies which were shot in the area such as “Lawrence of Arabia and Jesus of Nazareth” Take a walk and cross the dried river to discover Enesco Heritage Ait benhaddou and dominate the Kasbahs once you get to the top of the hill. Afterwards, you will head directly to Ouarzazate, You will Continue to Skoura palm grove, then Valley of the Roses the centre of Moroccan roses and rose products. Continue via the strange rock creation of Tamnalt Hills to Dades gorge, carved over centuries by the Dades River. Overnight right in the Dades Gorge lined by the red and mauve rock overnight in heart of dades Gorge. 7hrs of journey.

Taking the road to second Gorge, via Berber villages of the Dades valley, Todra Gorge free time for a short visit along the canyons of about 300 m high, a preferred place by mountain climbers, Afterwards you will leave to Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga Sahara desert and you will have time for lunch on the way before you arrive to Erfoud. Once you arrive to the hotel near by the dunes having a cup of meant tea, and then you will take a camel ride for 1h at the sunset to get to the oasis where the camp is located and see the sunset. Spend the night in nomadic tent under shooting stars. With Berber music sometimes, Have diner in the camp. 6/7 hrs of journey.

after the sunshine we ride camel back to the hotel where we leave our vehicle, here where we take our breakfast and a quickly shower, we then Return back to Ouarzazate and back over the high Atlas Mountains, Arrival in Marrakech evening about 8 pm, (approximately). 8hrs of journey.
