Take a unique Morocco desert camel trek in the majesty of the Erg Chegaga desert to discover the real, remote, beautiful Sahara. Book now!
Day 1 – Arrival & Transfer to Desert Gateway
• Arrive in Morocco (commonly Marrakech or Ouarzazate).
• Meet your trekking team and transfer toward the desert start point (often Zagora or M’hamid).
• Settle into a hotel or camp, meet your camel drivers, and prep for the trek.
Day 2 – Begin the Trek: Dunes & Early Nomadic Life
• Start walking alongside a camel caravan across golden dunes and rocky plains (hammada).
• Pass through oases and dried riverbeds, learning desert navigation techniques.
• Arrive at your first nomadic bivouac and enjoy a tajine dinner under clear desert skies.
Day 3 – Deep Desert Exploration
• Walk 5–6 hours through varied terrain: higher dunes, open plains, and valleys like Oued Naam.
• Taste bread baked in the sand and enjoy mint tea at camp.
• Evening around the campfire with Sahrawi songs and storytelling.
Day 4 – Caravan Route & Sunrise/Sunset Dunes
• Continue along ancient caravan routes toward areas such as Erg Lihoudi or similar dune fields.
• Watch a spectacular sunrise or sunset from ridge‑top dunes.
• Sleep in a traditional Berber tent, with star‑filled skies and cooling night breezes.
Day 5 – Final Trek & Return
• Morning walk back toward M’hamid or Zagora.
• Meet your transport and return to town around midday.
• Optional onward travel to Marrakech for a closing celebration dinner (common on many treks).

Highlights of the Tour
Itinerary
The tour starts in the morning towards the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260m above sea level, passing through the Berber villages, arriving at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Visit the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Night and dinner at the hotel.
Our desert tour start in the morning to M’hamid, through the Draa Valley and its thousand and one kasbah millennium, along a palm grove of over 200 km. Lunch in Zagora and stop at Tamgroute to visit the Zaouïa, an old Koranic library, pottery craft workshops, and an underground Kasbah. The journey continues to the M’Hamid Sahara desert, the last palm grove of Draa and the beginning of the Moroccan Sahara to arrive at the Oasis Camp, at the door of the desert. After breakfast and meeting desert trek team, as well as preparations, we start walking for Ait Ounir’s Reg. Lunch / picnic along the way. Setting up of camp by your nomadic desert team for you to spend the night by the dunes.
With an early start to watch sunset then the desert trek continues towards the beautiful dune of Erg Ezzahar (Howling dune) Small tea ceremony at sunset on the dune and a delicious tajine for dinner under the stars. The night takes is breathtaking, the emotion is intense. Night in the camp, tent, or sleeping under stars.
The camel trekking continues through the desert. Picnic for lunch. Setting up the camp for the night and preparation of the dinner by the camel drivers.
Making our way walking in Sahara to dunes of Erg Laarada, after crossing a desert plateau and a day of intense walking. The camp is in the heart of the dunes.
After breakfast, your camel trek takes the road back to M’Hamid for a well-earned shower! Dinner and overnight at the Oasis Camp. Farewell to your support team.
Ouarzazate – Marrakech: Departure towards Marrakech through Agdaz, then Ouarzazate. You will be back in your hotel in Marrakech at the end of the day.
